Welcome to Gregory Chorus 2026-27!

Welcome to the Gregory Middle School Choral Department!  The chorus offerings here are a significant part of our school curriculum and will enhance your middle school experience greatly.  The chorus program is designed to help each singer improve their own vocal skills, expand their musical understanding, and increase their personal growth through working together in class and in performances.

It is the goal for each chorus student to:

1.      Discover, appreciate and value their own talents, the talents of
         others and the beauty of all types of music.

2.      Improve skills in using their vocal instrument, learning music
         theory and reading skills, and general musical knowledge.

3.      Gain a desire to continually improve upon past performances.

4.      Experience self-fulfillment after having communicated to others
         through music.

5.      Experience music in a way that will bring lasting enjoyment and as
         an activity that can be continued long after leaving GMS.

In addition to all of these goals, we also love to have fun together in chorus!  Of course, it is expected that every student give their best effort and cooperation.  With all of us working together, it will be an exciting, inspiring, and rewarding year.

Fine Arts Festival - Saturday, May 16 at Neuqua Valley HS

Dear Gregory Chorus Families,

We are closing in on one of my favorite days of the school year for our musicians. The final curricular performance of the school year is at the annual District 204 Fine Arts Festival at Neuqua Valley HS on Saturday, May 16. ALL CHORUS STUDENTS will be performing that day alongside other middle & high school singers and, per the performance calendar distributed at the beginning of the school year, attendance is mandatory. The schedule for the day is as follows:

7th & 8th Grade Chorus - report to the Neuqua orchestra room by 10:20am; performance in the auditorium 11:20-11:40am.

6th Grade Chorus - report to the Neuqua orchestra room at 2:20pm; performance in the auditorium 3:20-3:40pm.

Attire for the performance is "nice dress clothing" (no Gregory music polo) - please no jeans, sweatpants, gym shoes, etc.

(Please note that Gregory's co-curricular ensembles—Concert Choir, Men's Ensemble, and Mixed Vocal Ensemble—do not perform at the Fine Arts Festival)

Parents: on the day of the festival, please drop off your student in the front Neuqua circle drive at door #5 (near the auditorium entrance); students can then follow signs inside for the orchestra room (warmup area). Singers: please begin committing songs to memory and working through problem spots at home by using the practice tracks posted in Google Classroom to assist you.

March Choral Concerts - Monday, March 9

We are fast approaching our next chorus concert evening - Monday, March 9, 2026 in the Gregory East Gym. This is a big night for all of our choral groups at Gregory as it is the culminating curricular event for Q3! As such, attendance is required for all of our singers.

The following is the schedule for the evening:

5:00pm - Concert Choir in place in the West Gym for warmup & run-through

5:10pm - Men's Ensemble in place in the West Gym for warmup & run-through

5:30pm - 6th Grade Chorus in place in the West Gym for warmup & run-through

6:00pm - CONCERT in the East Gym (6th Grade Chorus, Men's Ensemble, Mixed Vocal Ensemble, & Concert Choir)

7:00pm - 7th Grade Chorus in place in the West Gym for warmup & run-through

7:10pm - 8th Grade Chorus in place in the West Gym for warmup & run-through

7:30pm - CONCERT in the East Gym (7th Grade Chorus, 8th Grade Chorus, Men's Ensemble, Mixed Vocal Ensemble, & Concert Choir)

Please note: students in our extracurricular ensembles (Men's Ensemble, Mixed Vocal Ensemble, & Concert Choir) will perform the same set of music in BOTH concerts; these students are required to attend both performances, but parents of those students need only attend the grade level concert of their student. As it will be a long evening for them, students in these ensembles should plan to have an early dinner (singers should not perform on an empty stomach!), and that homework and other tasks are completed in advance of the concert night as much as possible.

Attire for the evening is the gray Gregory Music polo shirt, black pants (no jeans/capris/skirts/sweatpants), and black shoes (if wearing socks, they should be black as well).

6th Grade & Concert Choir - Triptych Concerts - December 9!

Dear Chorus Families,

Below are a few reminders and updates regarding our Triptych Concerts next week on Tuesday, December 9th in the Gregory East Gym.   Please read everything carefully.

All 6th Grade Chorus students need to arrive at Gregory Middle School on the morning of the concert day (Tuesday, December 9) wearing their music uniform (gray Gregory Music polo shirt, black pants, black shoes), as those students will be performing during the school day. Students will not have the opportunity to change before the concert.
Parents/guardians: you are invited to attend, and may come to either performance time (1:00pm or 2:15pm, but there is generally more open seating at the 2:15pm concert)! To those planning on attending, we have a few reminders regarding the logistics for those performances since they are occurring during the school day:

1. Do not park in the circle drive.  This area must remain open for buses and/or emergency vehicles during school hours.  You may park in the staff parking lot as well as on neighborhood streets.
2. All attendees must enter Door #4 (near the gym) for the concert.  That door will unlock at 12:45 for the 1:00 performance and at 2:00 for the 2:15 performance.  You will not be permitted to enter Door #1.  Please do not use the buzzer to enter there.  Go directly to Door #4 near the gym.
3. All audience members will be asked to exit the building promptly following the 2:15pm concert. Parents may not remain inside the building to take their child home with them before 3:00.  Students will be dismissed at the 3:00pm bell ending the school day.

Attire that evening is nice, dress clothing (no Gregory Music polo); festive colors encouraged but not required!

(A reminder that 7th Grade Chorus, 8th Grade Chorus, Men's Ensemble, and Mixed Vocal Ensemble will not be performing that day; their next concert will be March 9.)

All are invited to attend our concerts, and there are no tickets…simply show up to the East Gym prior to the concert time and find a seat!

We are very excited to share all of the hard work the students have put into preparing for these performances. 

6th Grade Choral Demonstration - Wednesday, October 8!

Attention 6th Grade Singers & Families,

A reminder that we will be having our first performance of the year this Wednesday evening, October 8, at 6:30pm in the Gregory Commons (lunch room). This will be a short "sneak-peak demonstration" of what we do in chorus class, and all are invited to attend! This is a required, curricular event for our 6th Grade Chorus students, so attendance is mandatory; attire is the gray Gregory Music polo shirt that was handed out in class this week to all of our music students, as well as solid black pants (no jeans, shorts, sweatpants, skirts, or capris) and solid black shoes. If you wear socks, they should be black as well (no white or colored socks, please).

Singers must be in place for warmups and preparations in the Commons beginning at 6:00pm, so please plan on being dropped off and enter through door #1 at 5:55pm; orchestra combo students, the orchestra performance may still be wrapping up in the East Gym when we begin warming up, so please just come to the Commons as soon as you are able. Parents, please drop off your singer on time but do not enter the Commons area until starting at 6:20pm.

At the conclusion of the chorus demonstration, all chorus-only and orchestra combo students are free to go; band combo students should report to their assigned location to warm up for the band performance, which will begin at 7:30pm.

Fall Choral Demonstration - Tuesday, October 8

Dear Gregory Chorus Families,

We are fast approaching our first chorus performance night of the school year - The Fall Choral Demonstration on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 in the Gregory East Gym. This is a big night for all of our choral groups at Gregory, as it is the culminating curricular event for what we have been working on so far for the first quarter! As is the case with all of our performances, attendance for our singers is required and will be a part of students' Q1 grade. 

All students should arrive early through door #4 (near the gyms) and report to their assigned location at the following assigned times:

6:00pm - 6th Grade Chorus in place in the West Gym for instructions & rehearsal

6:15pm - Men's Ensemble and Concert Choir in place in the West Gym for instructions & rehearsal

6:30pm - 7th Grade Chorus & 8th Grade Chorus in place in the West Gym for instructions & rehearsal

7:00pm - PERFORMANCE in the East Gym (all Gregory vocal groups together!) (Please note the performance times on the Gregory website calendar are incorrect; we will be having one performance at 7:00pm. Our two-concert format will be in place for our February concert night.)

Attire for the evening is the gray Gregory Music polo shirt (these shirts were distributed in class this week for any student who ordered one), solid black pants (leggings are ok, but please no jeans/sweatpants/capris/skirts/torn clothing), and solid black shoes (no other colors or markings; if wearing socks, they should be black as well). 

We are looking forward to sharing our music with you!
